The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planning to set up a space platform in the next 25-20 years, its Chairman, G Madhavan Nair, said here today. Speaking at the DEI deemed university, Dayalbagh, on ISRO programmes for the future, he said the space platform would help bring back a capsule safely to earth. Normally, the capsule is either damaged or destroyed. By rescuing it safely, the capsule could be used again, Dr Madhavan said and added the platform can also be used to send rockets with a range of 100-150 km. The ISRO Chairman said that ''Chandrayan I'' satellite would be launched by March next year, and added it will be established some ten km away from the surface of the moon. Through the satellite, scientists would try to find out which minerals are available on the moon as well as the possibility of life there. |
