Helicopter spare parts worth Rs 10.68 lakh, belonging to the Indian Navy, has been reported stolen.
Though the theft was brought to light over a month ago, Naval officials lodged a police complaint with Vasco police only on Thursday.
Vasco PI Sammy Tavares said Satendar Singh, the Commanding Officer of INS 339 Hansa, Dabolim, lodged the complaint against unknown person for stealing parts like Frequency Transceiver of a navy helicopter on May 21 from the dispersal area of Navy at Dabolim.
Incidentally, most of the naval area is heavily guarded and only civilians with proper identification are allowed in there. Vasco Police has registered an offence under Section 379 of IPC and is investigating the case.
