India : Technical snag force IAF helicopter to land

An Indian Air Force helicopter on Wednesday landed under emergency conditions in a field in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh due to a technical fault.

Squadron Leader Anand Lule and two other trainee pilots in the helicopter ejected safely, Medak district SP R P Naik told PTI over phone in the evening.

The helicopter, belonging to the Hakimpet Air Force Academy here, was on a training sortie and it developed a technical fault about ten minutes after taking off.

The helicopter landed in the fields at Rimmanguda village.

Another helicopter with technical staff went to the spot and took up repair work. Later, both the helicopters returned to the base here, Hakimpet Air Force Academy sources said.
