Kabini, the core of the much-delayed Kaveri engine, is undergoing high altitude testing at the Central Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM) in Moscow.

It has been taken by a team from the Bangalore-based Gas Turbine Research Establishment.

Kabini primarily makes up Kaveri’s high pressure compressor, high pressure turbine

If asked what he did, retired U.S. Air Force Col. Henry Edward “Pete” Warden would always call himself a farmer.

That was his chosen trade after he retired from a military career that included 25 combat missions in the Southwest Pacific in WWII.

In fact, it years into adulthood before his daughter realized her dad was also called the “father of the B-52.”

The IAF along with the Indian army and navy plans to work towards the integration of fire power resource to ensure optimum effect on the target.

The75-years old Indian Air Force (IAF) as part of its long term plan to emerge as a truly continental force, is now seriously pursuing the creation of a tri-service aerospace command. As envisaged, the Indian Aerospace Command, whose headquarters is planned to be located in Thiruvananthapuram, will help extend its reach and boost its strike capability by a substantial extent. As pointed out by the IAF Chief, FH Major, over the years the responsibilities of the Air Force have not only increased tremendously but the force's area of operations might go up to the South China Sea.

India : Indian navy`s dare-devil exercises off Paradip

Indian Navy's strike power and versatility were on display off Paradip on Saturday as new generation naval ships carried out a host of dare-devil exercises including anti-submarine rocket firing and showed their ability to operate under adverse conditions.

Demonstration of close range anti-aircraft gun firing and anti-submarine Sonar operations by KA-25 helicopter featured during the sea sortie conducted by recently acquired INS Jalashwa and other major warships of eastern fleet to commemorate the naval victory during Indo-Pak War of 1971.

Russian army to have cruise missiles-armed Iskander in 2009


The first cruise missile-armed Iskander launchers will enter duty in 2009, the chief of the Russian Armed Forces’ rocket and artillery troops, Colonel-General Vladimir Zaritsky, said on Wednesday at a meeting with mass media on the occasion of Rocket and Artillery Troops Day, to be marked on November 19.

“Cruise missiles are being tested, I am satisfied with the progress and I am certain that the task of providing enough launchers armed with cruise missiles will be coped with on time,” Zaritsky said. “The military-industrial commission under the Russian government has set 2009 as the deadline.”

India : Chinese Made Anti-Tank Gun Seized in Kashmir

The Indian army reports a Chinese made anti-tank gun was recovered from militants in violence-hit Kashmir. This is the first time that this kind of weapon has been recovered from militants fighting the Indian army in Kashmir.

An Indian army spokesman, Col A K Mathur claimed that army personnel conducted combing and search operations in the dense Hafruda forests in the border district of Kupwara. "After a thorough search of the suspected area, one 82mm smooth bore breech-loaded, tripod-mounted, anti-tank recoilless gun of Chinese make with optical sight was unearthed", he said.
