The next launch of India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV- C9 is scheduled to carry India’s latest remote sensing satellite CARTOSAT- 2A along with Indian Mini Satellite (IMS-1) and eight nano satellites from abroad around 9.20 a.m. on Monday, April 28, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota.
This will be the 13th flight of PSLV and the third flight with core-alone configuration, an ISRO press note said.
Earlier this year reports appeared in the media that China had copied Russia's Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker fighter, and that its J-11 version, now manufactured in China, would be sold to third countries, undermining Russia's positions on the global arms market.
Although China has made some progress in adapting Russian designs and technology, it is still far from posing either a military or commercial threat to Russian aviation.
The Chinese aircraft industry evolved in the late 1950s with Soviet assistance, and
The Israeli government is pushing ahead with anti-missile system development, having announced its preferences from a range of competing technologies.
However, the importance of the primary imperative driving short and medium range anti-missile development - the political impact of the 2006 Lebanon War - is beginning to wane. The governing Labor and Kadima parties are steadily closing the polling advantage enjoyed by the Likud party since the conflict, as secret Egyptian-mediated talks with Hamas on a Gaza ceasefire continue.
"There is a lot of public pressure and there are politicians who […] are either taking
In an event attended by over 700 international guests which was broadcast ‘live’ around the world, the Gripen Demonstrator (Demo) aircraft was ‘rolled-out’ in a spectacular ceremony in front of the world’s media.
The Gripen Demonstrator programme is the pathfinder for a whole new generation of technologies and capabilities to ensure that Gripen remains at the leading edge of fighter aircraft performance and capability well beyond 2040. The programme includes the development of a new Gripen test flying platform - Gripen Demo - and
Pakistan had earlier agreed to buy 36 of these aircraft at a total cost of $5.1 billion, which included associated weapons, spares and upgrading of an earlier fleet purchased in the 1980s.
The proposed fleet of 36 new F-16 Block 50/52 planes was to cost Pakistan $3 billion while it was required to pay additional $650 million for weapons.
The decision to reduce the order by half would also halve the cost of buying new F-16s and that of the weapons associated with them.
The makers of Eurofighter Typhoon combat jets Thursday said they are inviting India to join them in building next-generation fighters, a move which may boost the chances of the Eurofighter winning the South Asian country's $10 billion contract for 126 jets for its Air Force. The Eurofighter consortium comprises Alenia SpA of Italy's Alenia Aeronautica, BAE Systems PLC (BA.LN) of the U.K., and the Spanish and German units of European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co. (5730.FR), EADS Casa and EADS Germany. India is the first non-European country to be invited to join the consortium, a senior
The Defence Ministry on Thursday said a conspiracy could be in play to “sabotage” the main battle tank (MBT) Arjun project, even as Indian Army chief Gen Deepak Kapoor visited the production unit to inspect the tanks after they failed the just-concluded winter trials.
“The possibility of sabotage needs to be examined,” Minister of State for Defence (Production) Rao Inderjit Singh told reporters in New Delhi.
“The engines fitted in the tanks were German and were performing well for the past
European aerospace and defence consortium EADS on Thurday made a strong pitch for its Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft, claiming it would more than meet the requirements of the Indian Air Force.
The IAF has floated a tender for purchase of 126 jet fighter planes which is expected to
The Boeing Company on Thursday delivered a detailed 7,000-page proposal offering its advanced F/A-18E/F Super Hornet to the Indian Air Force as part of India’s Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) competition.
“Our proposal team worked diligently to fully understand and meet the requirements set out by the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD). We are offering India the best-value, most advanced and proven multi-role combat fighter in production today,” said Jim Albaugh, president and CEO, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS).
Russia has officially notified China of the fact that the production of J11 jet fighters, which copy Russia’s Su-27SK aircraft, violates international agreements. Moscow promised to launch legal proceedings to protect its intellectual property.
Russia’s attempts to settle down on China’s arms market have been made to no avail, the Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports. Chinese pirates have entered a new level of activity. They mastered the production technology and developed the Chinese production of Su-27 analogues with a view to subsequently export the planes to third world countries.
