India : Two IAF helicopters land on fields in Phillaur

BY :PTI

Panic gripped a village in this district on Thursday as two Indian Air Force MI-17 helicopters made emergency landing in an agricultural field following some technical snag.

The two helicopters took off from Pathankot Air Force station on its routine flying and one of them developed technical snag and pilot opted for emergency landing on the fields of the Gumtala village at about 1 p.m., Defence Public Relations Office Naresh Vig told PTI.

The other helicopter also made emergency landing to extend help to the pilot of first chopper, he said, adding senior civil, police and IAF officials have rushed to the spot.

Asked about the exact nature of the technical snag, Vig said that it could be revealed only after a detailed probe. Nobody was injured in the incident and even pilots were safe and sound, he added.
