Asia&pacific : Russia plans live-fire bombing drills

BY : UPI

The Russian Air Force plans to hold live-fire drills next week for its strategic bombers, military officials said Friday.

The plane to be used in the drill is the Tu-22M3 Backfire-C, a supersonic bomber used mainly on the southern border in Central Asia and over the Black Sea. The drills will be held from Aug. 4 to Aug. 8, the Novosti news agency reported.

"During the exercises the crews will practice simulated bomber runs at testing grounds in the Novgorod and the Saratov regions," Lt. Col. Vladimir Drik said.

The air force has 141 TU-22M3 bombers. They have a range of 4,300 miles and can carry a payload of more than 50,000 pounds, including nuclear bombs and Cruise missiles.

Since India does not have a dedicated bomber, it should seriously think of acquiring a squadron of the TU-22M3 bombers for its Air Force. People may argue that those are offencive weapons and the pro China and Pakistan lobby in India as well as the world might even argue that it might develop into an arms race.

India should think of its defence and security needs and plan accordingly. India needs to be India centric in whatever it does. It is better to be well prepared and ready to meet any contigency as it is in the midst of hostile neighbours.

India should plan to make the Andaman and Nicobar as a fortified flat-top to deter the Chinese in the Indian Ocean which they have been planning to be their backyard in the furture.

The PLA, PLAF and PLN are modernizing all their assets as well as augmenting new platforms not for defence only. No power other than Russia or the US is capable of invading China and giving it a bloody nose. In Asia, it is the super power and it keeps reminding its neighbours, especially India by its frequent incursons into Indian territory.

Aggressors only understand strength. They would not dare attack or provoke any country if the country concerned is not a walkover. INDIA SHOULD ARM ITSELF TO ITS TEETH TO KEEP OFF AND WARN WOULDBE AGGRESSORS LIKE CHINA.

Russia should scrap deal because India is leeting the wepaon secret to enemy USa through agnets in India like the traitor manmohan singh and his bastard supporters who want India to be cheap3end and weakend through american infiltration.

Already Indian nu7clear capability has been curtailed and Indias let that pass! in any country people like manmoahan singh would have been brutally beaten to death -which he should get the treatment.

    Hindu gods spike Chinese dragon
    By M K Bhadrakumar

India's National Security Advisor M K Narayanan made an astounding claim in a television interview on Saturday that "divine intervention" might have secured for the country a "waiver" from the Nuclear Suppliers' Group (NSG). The "waiver" allows India to have global nuclear commerce without formally signing either the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) nor the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and paves the way for the US Congress to ratify a potentially lucrative civilian nuclear deal with India.

The NSG "adjusted its guidelines" for India on Saturday. Narayanan was reacting to the news. He then went on to launch a tirade against China, alleging Beijing tried to spoil India's party at Vienna. He said India was taken by surprise by the Chinese

"All said, therefore, the Indian government's decision to whip up a degree of public frenzy over China has been deliberate and well-conceived. To be sure, a powerful imagery has been conjured up: Hindu Gods spiking the Chinese dragon. The thesis is that China worked hard at the NSG to obtain a similar waiver for it close ally Pakistan. As proof, the government has given to the media a statement by Yang, "It is also China's hope that the NSG would equally address the aspirations of all parties for the peaceful use of nuclear power while adhering to the nuclear non-proliferation mechanism." The corporate media eagerly lapped up the China-bashing. The large anti-China lobby in the strategic community in Delhi promptly acquiesced with "expert" opinion.

The government's purpose has been well-served. The public attention has been almost entirely deflected from the core issue: What is the additional price that Washington has extracted from Delhi for obtaining this NSG waiver? The government struck with immaculate timing just as misgivings were beginning to be voiced in India that Delhi paid a high price to get the NSG waiver.

An explicit Indian commitment not to resort to nuclear weapon-testing ever again formed the "basis" of the NSG waiver.
