India : HAL finalizing roadmap for civilian passenger aircraft

Aerospace and defence manufacturing giant Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is preparing a roadmap for implementation of its "dream project" to produce the country's first indigenously developed civilian passenger aircraft.
The project is in the planning stage and a final roadmap is being prepared so that work on it could be started soon, a top official in the state-run company told PTI.

"It has been conceived as a dream project of HAL and we are in the process of finalizing the finer details," he said.

Asia&pacific : Singapore pilots take first flight in Strike Eagles

Lim Chee Meng traveled for more than 24 hours and endured a month of "intense academics" for the chance to climb a particular ladder on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

So when the Singapore Air Force lieutenant colonel finally got that chance Thursday morning, he settled into the cockpit and took it all in. Moments later, he and the other pilots currently in training with the 4th Fighter Wing's 333rd Fighter Squadron were somewhere in the skies over Wayne County.

And for the colonel, his first flight in the F-15E Strike Eagle was "exhilarating."

"A lot of us, we have heard about the Eagles and how they fly," he said. "It was great."

India : IAF's MiG-29 crashes in Arabian Sea, pilot bails out

A MiG-29 jet fighter of the Indian Air Force crashed in the Arabian Sea off Jamnagar coast during a training mission around noon today but the pilot ejected safely.
Flight Lieutenant Dheer, was rescued after he bailed out of the aircraft which crashed at 1153 hours, an IAF spokesman said in New Delhi.

The IAF's all-weather air superiority aircraft was on a one-on-one training sortie when the pilot lost control of the MiG-29 which crashed in the sea about 50 km off Jamnagar, he said.
