Bangladesh has sought India's help for setting up a 600 MW nuclear power plant to meet its growing energy needs. "We have approached India for help to set up a nuclear power plant," said Hamid Khan, a senior scientist in the Atomic Energy Centre run by the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC).
The Bangladesh government had earlier approached a European nation for supplying nuclear reactors but later chose India as it was "closer to home", he said.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planning to set up a space platform in the next 25-20 years, its Chairman, G Madhavan Nair, said here today.
Speaking at the DEI deemed university, Dayalbagh, on ISRO programmes for the future, he said the space platform would help bring back a capsule safely to earth. Normally, the capsule is either damaged or destroyed.

His Majesty the King granted an audience to Lieutenant General Deepak Kapoor, the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) of the Indian Army on Thursday, May 3.
Lt. General Deepak Kapoor’s visit to Bhutan is the first visit to any foreign country after he assumed the post of the Vice Chief in January of this year. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Kirti Kapoor on the three-day visit.
The Indian Army is engaging in a joint training exercise with the Maldivian National Defence Forces (MNDF), which includes a two-day counter-terrorist exercise.
The week-long exercise began on Saturday, a statement issued here said.
Codenamed Ekuverin, an infantry battalion of the Southern Command is involved in the exercise on the Indian side.
The Indian Army is all set to test the surface-to-surface medium range Prithvi-1 missile next week, say officials. The missile, which went into production after a series of testing, will be launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located at Chandipur in Orissa's Balasore district.
"This is a limited stock production (LSP) test by the users (Indian Army). A Prithvi-1 missile has been randomly selected from the already prepared missiles and will be used for the test," an official source told the media.

The US has said it has not seen the letter written by a group of American lawmakers to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on New Delhi's ties with Tehran and its implications to the civilian nuclear deal.
