Sorry “Top Gun” fans, it appears Tom Cruise returning to the franchise has not been cleared for take off.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced suggesting Cruise was in line to reprise his role as Maverick in the fighter jet film, 22 years after the original.

However, “Access Hollywood” has confirmed those reports are false.When contacted by “Access,” a spokesperson for Paramount (which released “Top Gun” in 1986) said there was “no way” Cruise would be returning to the role.

The much-awaited request for proposal (RFP) for 126 multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA) for the Indian Air Force (IAF) worth $10 billion will be issued by the defence ministry early next month, after sorting out the life-cycle cost of the aircraft.

Officials in the ministry of defence said, “A team which was sent by the IAF overseas to work out the life-cycle costs (LCC) of the aircraft has returned. And based on the report submitted by the team, the issue has been resolved.”
